Packed 8 boat rods 7ft to 5ft and 2 , 7ft spinning rods in the airliner tube. Alternate rods (end to end) and Velcro 2 rods together. Repeat until all rods are in pairs.Velcro again until you obtain the smallest size. Bubble warp ends and the largest spinning guides. Lay the longest rod down next to the tube for length of tube adjustment and then mark it. Now place a bolt with nylon nut through the adjustment hole. the TSA can now only open from the end, so they can’t collapse the tube on your rods. The cap was marked open here in English and Spanish. TSA cable lock and stick on name tag. This unit looks to be made well. The product was described well in the listing. Foam is in both ends of tube for rod protection. The cap is a little tight so debur the plastic, be careful and don’t take to much off. I thank all others for their reviews on Amazon and from fishing forums. I will update my review when I get back from International travels about airline cost and how it holds up.

The best out there for 8 feet or or longer rods, easily fit more than 6 rods at a tine. Telescopic and made out of a durable material. takes a few days to ship if you choose prime for shipping but worth it. Few things , just like the other review, i followed the instructions and placed a sign pointing the top opening saying “TSA OPEN HERE” . Instead of the little clip that comes with it, i replaced with with a screw, washers and a nut in black color that way TSA wont try to open it the wrong way and damage the rod tips.

Protect your investment in fishing rods.

This case is sturdy and well constructed. Its also heavy, which is why the wheels come in so handy. The case performs as expected. However, the top is vulnerable to unintentional loosening. A 1/4 twist of the cap and the contents are exposed. I attached a piece of 400 pound test mono with a brass clasp to secure the lid.

This is a good product, but it is bulky

This is a good product, but it is bulky. My other option was a smaller one or building my own out of PVC (YouTube). But I purchased this at a good price and it is definitely strong and capable. I recommend this item to someone who will actually use it as it will surely hold up and protect the rods.

It works

I used this on a recent Mexico trip. It is a solid well-built product. This thing is a beast, but I packed 12 bass rods in it, and I could have probably fit a few more.

I bought this tube for a Mexico Surf Fishing trip for Roosterfish. I went with some friends who had other rod tubes that proved inferior. First the other tubes were not strong enough with one of the tubes actually getting a wicked bending as it came out of the baggage handling equipment and another fisherman’s tube had a rod sticking out of it when we landed. Second, their tubes did not have wheels and as we made our way through the airport the wheels on this tube were priceless. Priceless! Buy this tube if you value your equipment.

Perfect for checking in with airlines

I am a Gold Member with Delta and was able to check in this rod case with six poles inside (including a 7’6″ Abu Garcia Winch Rod) and was not charged extra. The case has a great design for telescoping. The top is a bit tight to turn which prevents it from opening during travel. All of the poles arrived intact. A great investment!

Can be used for things other than fishing.

I actually re-purposed this case to fit a super-sized photography light-stand. It protects both my car and my stand.
